Has anyone recently had problems with the Laguna Raku body?Clay taken straight from the box, when worked and fired had 2 lg. pieces pop - off the body. The shape of the pop - off centered to one location. I remember similar pop - offs years ago at the Banff Centre. At that point we discovered that the manufacture had accidently contaminated one of its sources clay with lime.

Hi Pamela,
I use Laguna clays during the winter in Arizona, and have done for the last 10 years. For some reason, this last winter we had nothing but trouble with Laguna clays. The B-Mix was continually soppy wet and one box had a core of gravel right through the center of the clay.
Others complained of small stones - which don't make for good throwing. Spoke to a Laguna Rep. and he advised to take it back to point of purchase. Not always easy to do. At the very least contact the company.
